Chapter V · Working From

Four places,
one method.

An inventory of the places we work from, in order of latitude. Two are physical labs, two are distributed desks; all four are where this edition is quietly assembled.

Where the ecosystem begins and, most weeks, ends.

§ 1Torshov is the desk at which Collective Innovation was founded in 2019 and the room to which, sooner or later, every question in the ecosystem finds its way back. The headquarter sits in Myrens Verksted, a converted industrial building beside the Akerselva river, a short walk from central Oslo.

§ 2It is our habit to hold the hard conversations here and the easy ones somewhere else. Strategy, foresight, methodology, editorial review, and the annual honest assessment of what has and has not worked happen at this address.

§ 3The room does more than hold meetings. Workshops happen here, and many of them. A podcast studio sits at one end, a small cinema room at the other. The coffee is always good — by house policy, never by accident.

§What happens here

  • Strategy and ecosystem direction
  • Foresight and editorial briefs
  • Methodology and cross-sector planning
  • Workshops and convenings
  • Podcast studio and cinema room
  • Public writing, in long hand
  • The honest yearly assessment
·

Where briefs become budgets and budgets become deliverables.

§ 1The Project Hub is our project workshop, set in Nydalen on the northern edge of central Oslo. Here the work moves from the page to the consortium: intake, sector pull, partner mapping, content generation, document assembly, quality gate.

§ 2The European project pipeline runs through this desk. The Project Hub holds a reference database of 40,000 accepted EU projects and a five-stage evaluation system that grades a draft proposal before the deadline rather than after it. The discipline of the Project Hub is unglamorous and, on balance, the most valuable thing we do.

§What happens here

  • EU project coordination
  • Proposal writing and submission
  • Partner mapping and consortium building
  • Reference database of 40,000 accepted projects
  • Five-stage proposal evaluation system
  • Content generation and personalisation
  • Document assembly and quality gate

Where the sport sector commercial work is delivered.

§ 1Amsterdam is the home of Sport Singularity BV, our sport-sector driver organisation in the ecosystem. It carries the commercial side of the sport work: federation engagements, the Foresight Leadership Programme, and bespoke programme delivery for sport organisations across Europe.

§ 2It is also where we run our four-stage foresight cycle inside sport organisations — scanning signals, building scenarios, drafting policy briefs, and facilitating their use. The cycle turns scattered weak signals into decisions that hold up over time.

§ 3Continuous environmental scanning sits alongside the cycle. We track the regulatory, funding, and institutional shifts shaping European sport policy, the ones that decide what federations can and cannot do. Through VoiceSport, we follow signals across the European sport sector and publish sector insights and intelligence for partners and the wider community.

§ 4The desk also runs the ecosystem’s data work: sector intelligence under the CIVM method and Cordis integration. Strategy is set in Oslo; numbers are kept honest in Amsterdam.

§What happens here

  • Sport sector commercial delivery
  • Federation engagements
  • Foresight Leadership Programme
  • Four-stage foresight cycle with sport organisations
  • Environmental scanning on European sport policy
  • VoiceSport sector signals and insights
  • Sector intelligence and CIVM data work
  • Cordis integration

AI & Robotics for Good — taught, written, and bridged.

§ 1Dublin is the home of AI Nexus Ireland, our AI driver organisation. The work here is divided between two close-but-distinct functions: AI upskill training programmes for non-specialists, and the bridging work between academic AI research, industrial deployment, and public policy.

§ 2The studio is remote-first; collaboration runs across the rest of the ecosystem. It also ships the ecosystem’s software when called upon — websites, platforms, and the editions you are reading now — written in Next.js, React, Tailwind, Framer Motion, and GSAP.

§What happens here

  • AI upskill training programmes
  • AI & Robotics for Good research
  • Bridges between academia, industry, and policy
  • Websites, platforms, and editions
  • Design system maintenance
