Project №12 · Esports for youth work
D-Engage
Using esports and competitive gaming as a vehicle for youth engagement and informal education.
Editorial note
§ 1Esports is one of the few cultural spaces where at-risk youth engage voluntarily and at scale. D-Engage treats that as an infrastructure for informal education rather than a problem to be managed.
§ 2The project produces a set of protocols for youth workers to run esports-based programmes inside community centres, with a focus on the soft skills that transfer out of gaming into employment and further education.
